A Post For Voiceless Refugees

Refugee
The suffering.
Perhaps, we could says that the poor's life is suffer. Yes, they suffers financially, but they still having the loved family. Then, how the sufferings of someone who lost the loved ones and didn't know where to stay because of no countries accepting them officially. Can you imagine it ?

According to UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), Article 1 A (2) of the 1951 Convention and Protocol Relating to the Status Of Refugees, the term “refugee” shall apply to any person who:
As a result of events occurring before 1 January 1951 and owing to wellfounded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion, is outside the country of his nationality and is unable or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to avail himself of the protection of that country; or who, not having a nationality and being outside the country of his former habitual residence as a result of such events, is unable or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to return to it.

In this opportunity I hope the countries that did not yet ratify the 1951 Convention above, willing to do it.

I quote a very interesting comment from Rummuser, in my post "Give Your Voice For Refugee", like these :
"....India is already an overpopulated country. So far it has accepted these refugees and tried to get them to be better off than they were before they left their countries. Now, with terrorists being identified from among the so called refugees, a back lash is building up and there are fears that the problems can only get worse. If the countries of origin of these people would do something about keeping them in their own countries, it would help!!"

How you think about the matter of terrorist among refugees? How to solve it?

We create an imaginary border called nation only to show the world that we're different. And by doing this, some member of human race didn't have 'place' anywhere in this world.
What is the different anyway? Who are we to judge they didn't belong here or there?

Nice post, tikno. I hope everyone could see this post.

  8. ...every human being has worth value and dignity, and when a party refuse it there would be a chance that somebody become so called 'terrorist' to regain his/her dignity...so let's give respects to everybody...don't ever include reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion in our paradigm when we have to interact with somebody....
    warm regards

  15. What creates a terrorist in the first place? Being marginalized from society. Perhaps we need to reach out to these people and bring them back into society somehow. Is that possible, or is it too late?

  18. dear Sir,
about the problem of terrorist among refugee, I ever learned about the case like this.
as long as I study I recognize the concept of complex humanitarian emergency (CHEx). CHEx is a phenomena wheres not only war that occur but, followed by other phenomena like mass displacement, hunger, death, diseases endemic, and the other violation. and most important of this is those phenomena is not natural but MAN MADE.
So, it can be concluded that the existence of violence or unsecure condition in the world now is a constructed by the people. people who really want to create the violence just for their interest or politics. so there's a political motive here.
like chidl soldiers or civilians abusive in Africa, sometimes some groups creates it just for instrument of their politic.
I think it is same with the case of refugee that you wrote. the existence of terrorist maybe replacement the refugee just for their political instrument or increasing their political opportunity. But it just my argument, I dont know the truth.
    thank you for posting this

Effects of internet technology advancement

The rapid advancement of information technology has changed many aspects of human life today, the good and bad things. Within this post I limit on two aspects to make this post not too long to read. The aspects that most get my attentions.

1) Pattern of social interaction.
Frankly I miss the era between the 70s - 90s where my childhood and adolescence with my friends and family. I miss the days when I play marbles with my friends, make paper ships together, play kites, and the like which it called traditional games - maybe still be found in the hamlet or traditional villages. I really enjoy when gather together with friends while drinking beer in real world, Cheers! OMG... truly an emotional excitement sensation that I never found or feel it in the virtual world like Facebook, Instagram, and any social media whatsoever. Now, where smart phones, gadgets and social media has become lifestyles, I'm worried about getting the fact that my daughter likes to interact with her friends thro…

Public holidays 2014 in Indonesia

In August 2014, the Indonesian people have enjoyed the 2 days of national holiday, that is: Eid al-Fitr 1434 Hijri on 8-9 August 2014 and the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia on 17 August 2014. Approximately four months onward, the year 2013 will end. According to the Chinese calendar, the year of snake will be replaced with the year of horse at the time of the Chinese New Year 2565 on 31 January 2014. For those of you who want to plan the agenda in 2014, need to pay attention to the official national holiday and also the so-called "Cuti Bersama" (en: Joint Holiday) which has been declared by the three ministers on August 21, 2013 in Jakarta, as follows:
National Holidays in 2014 (translated in English in parentheses, appologize if incorrect) :

STOP the hatred war in the social networking site

Lately, I feel very worried by unscrupulous users of Facebook who already out of the spirit of Facebook motto namely "Facebook helps you connect and share with the people in your life". Some of Facebook users who use this site only for uploading pornographic images and shared it using private setting to certain people (not shared to everyone) and the other using it for spreading the hatred feelings, like a Facebook Group calling for Obama's death.

Although a very controversial Pages on Facebook namely "Everybody Draw Mohammed Day" which it created by Seattle cartoonist Molly Norris has been closed by Facebook after receiving protests from various parties including protests from the Indonesian government, the most recent controversy is the two opposing group on Facebook who mocked each other namely: "Everybody Draw Mohammed day (Indonesian version)" and the other one is "Everybody Draw Jesus day (Indonesian version)". As I observed on its la…

What a PhD mean for you

What is Ph.D.? Yes I know it is a prestigious academic degree. Only that? Hmm... I think NO. It's hard to describe it in words. You better focus on the illustration below:

And... the things that made me fall silent is what was said by Matt, below:
If you zoom in on the boundary of human knowledge in the direction of genetics, there's something just outside humanity's reach. My wife and I chose to start funding these graduate students after we learned that our son has a rare, fatal genetic disorder. It may be too late for my son, but it's not too late for other children. Even one child suffering is one child too many. The only way to end this kind of suffering is science. And, the best way to do science is through graduate students.

What a beautiful thoughts that touched my heart.
Note: This work was originally from The Illustrated Guide to a Ph.D. by Matt Might.
