Messages from golden wedding anniversary

The wedding anniversary was historically derived from Roman empire tradition, where husbands crown his wife with a silver wreath on their twenty-fifth anniversary, and a gold wreath on the fiftieth anniversary. In the present, generally, it called silver wedding anniversary for 25th years of marriage and the golden wedding anniversary for 50th years of marriage. Many people dream of their wedding will be lasting but many of them also fail.

For those of you who dream of it, then there is a philosophical message from a modest golden wedding anniversary, a pieces of dialog between emcee and bride, as follow :

Emcee : (jokingly) "What is the most annoying thing from your husband?"
Bride : "As many as the stars in the sky, unable to count them"
Emcee : (shocked) "Well, but your husband's kindness is also abundant, right?"
Bride : "A little, like the sun in the sky"
Emcee : (curious) "Then why you could live with him for half a century and still love each other?"
Bride : "Because once the sun rises, all the stars in the sky become invisible"
Emcee : "Amazing!" (and standing applause from invited guests)"

That's the message. We let you to conclude it.

    2. Well.. why do you need my prayer? :D

For me marriage is an endless journey, full of adventure. So it must be enjoyed.

Don't think too much about whether or not you will reach silver or gold or diamond anniversary. A number is just a number. It doesn't show anything.

We don't get married because we want to make a record. If we are happy, then it is already an achievement, a huge one.

    3. "Why?" As a believer I think your prayer is important, don't you?
Btw, I like your last sentence above, mate.

Kartini's Day and Indonesian women

Recently on April 21 the Indonesian nation commemorate Kartini's Day. Actually Kartini's Day is similar to Mother's Day (celebrated in Indonesia on December 22) or International Women's Day. Perhaps to understand Mother's Day you need to understand a person in your life called Mother, and for the International Women's Day and Kartini's Day perhaps you need to understand the person in your life called wife or sister. If you are underestimating women then firstly you need to look at your mother. Am I wrong?

In short: That is all for women. In wider meaning: That is how these special Day to further raise the awareness of Indonesian society or even the world - especially the women themselves - about women rights, their struggle for equality, and their important role in various spheres of life. This is also an occasion for Indonesian women to review how far their struggle get acknowledgment especially from the point of view of Indonesian traditional society who…

What a PhD mean for you

What is Ph.D.? Yes I know it is a prestigious academic degree. Only that? Hmm... I think NO. It's hard to describe it in words. You better focus on the illustration below:

And... the things that made me fall silent is what was said by Matt, below:
If you zoom in on the boundary of human knowledge in the direction of genetics, there's something just outside humanity's reach. My wife and I chose to start funding these graduate students after we learned that our son has a rare, fatal genetic disorder. It may be too late for my son, but it's not too late for other children. Even one child suffering is one child too many. The only way to end this kind of suffering is science. And, the best way to do science is through graduate students.

What a beautiful thoughts that touched my heart.

Public holidays 2014 in Indonesia

In August 2014, the Indonesian people have enjoyed the 2 days of national holiday, that is: Eid al-Fitr 1434 Hijri on 8-9 August 2014 and the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia on 17 August 2014. Approximately four months onward, the year 2013 will end. According to the Chinese calendar, the year of snake will be replaced with the year of horse at the time of the Chinese New Year 2565 on 31 January 2014. For those of you who want to plan the agenda in 2014, need to pay attention to the official national holiday and also the so-called "Cuti Bersama" (en: Joint Holiday) which has been declared by the three ministers on August 21, 2013 in Jakarta, as follows:
National Holidays in 2014 (translated in English in parentheses, appologize if incorrect) :
1 January (Wednesday): Tahun Baru 2014 (New Year 2014).14 January (Tuesday): Maulid Nabi Muhammad SAW (Birth of the Prophet).31 January (Friday): Tahun Baru Imlek 2565 (Chinese New Year 2565, also known as Lunar New Year…

Spiritual vacation and my cousin's engagement

Two weeks before Eid ul-Fitr, I was with my first brother went to Surabaya then to Bali and Tuban. The goal is to attend my cousin's engagement in Surabaya. My congratulations to Erlin and Bernard, wishing you become happy couple.

Then together with my third brother who lived in Surabaya we continued to Bali to see the 10th anniversary of a prayer's place owned by Jro Putu Saya. Based on the reference of my second brother who lived in Bali, Jro Putu Saya is a person who have advantages in the spiritual matter, in other word, he have supernatural power, perhaps can be called a psychic.

When I entered this prayer's place for the first time at night (about 21:00 o'clock), I felt mystical atmosphere around, calm and peace. I saw many people went to this place for worship, some from out of town, with a variety of requests such as fortune, business success, recovery from chronic illness where doctor has raised hand. What impressed me was this prayer's place is open to al…

Between logic and unlogic - science and faith

Maybe this post can be used as a reflections of how you deal with logic and faith (unlogic). After that, let people know of what you think. Just see how you react to this post.If you're very religious people (almost fanatic) then I guess your reaction will be very different to those who think more logical in response to various occurrence in these universe or even to your daily life. Take an example on a plane crash. Logical approach would yield the answer that lead to "human error" or "engine failure" and then find ideas to fix it. Religious approach will yield the answer that lead to "God's will (fate)". Or... perhaps you are in between them which it called moderate.

Can you compare or even combine the two of the flowchart above? If you can, then I will say you are being in best efforts. Why? Because... even sophisticated computer was run based on the combination of two signals namely positive and negative. What distinguishes human from robot is…
