Love and hate in science.

Have you ever loved or hated someone? One must be very pleasant, and the other must be very unpleasant. You definitely want the unpleasant ones to be thrown away or forgotten. But both still remain in your memory.

Religious teachings and motivators certainly give advice to forget things that are not good. Maybe you consider it a normative suggestion. In philosophical viewpoint there are those who say that love and hate are thin difference. Love can be hateful, and vice versa. Buddhist philosophy says that everything in the world is temporary. But I want to try from a scientific viewpoint to explain this philosophical view.

Love and hate have in common, both are equally unforgettable memories in our brain. But over time, both of them will gradually fade after we become senile, as the brain cells that save the memories of both love and hate will going death one by one. At this stage you already do not have a sense of love and hate anymore. You are slowly return to Alpha from Omega. Of course this is just my personal view that has not been scientifically tested. However that's life! How about you?

  1. I believe in balance. Not to go overboard with either love or hate but be equanimous in our relationships will be my advice.

    1. What is the "balance" philosophy do you mean in the context of this post?

  2. I am not being philosophical. I am being practical. Love and both are Reactions to stimuli. By using the gap between stimulus and response to decide how to respond, we lead a balanced life without getting carried away by either positive or negative reactions.

    1. It seems you tend to choose the middle path.
However, the truth is not always in the middle. It could be that the truth is on the left or right.

  3. A simple but meaningful explanation to reach awareness that everything will surely roll by. No matter how hard it is.
I don't think that you use microscopic cells as an analogy.

Show of force in the game of thrones

Is the world now heading to a good direction? This is a big question that we need to realize together. I am not an analyst who is an expert in the political, economic or military fields, nor a great speaker. So in this post I only present what I hear from the frenzy and uproar that occurs in our world. Of course from the viewpoint of a layman. If you scrutinize the news then the following is its frenzy :

1) USA vs China trade war.

The United States is one of the countries that once supported the free market, but is now very protective for the main reason because of the trade deficit. Naturally all countries tend to take protective measures if their economic growth is threatened. Usually this is normal for small and developing countries. I'm just shocked this is done by a country that has the number 1 economic power in the world. This is a kind of anxiety that China will compete with the US economy in the future.

The first point demanded by the United States from China is the protec…

Between logic and unlogic - science and faith

Maybe this post can be used as a reflections of how you deal with logic and faith (unlogic). After that, let people know of what you think. Just see how you react to this post.If you're very religious people (almost fanatic) then I guess your reaction will be very different to those who think more logical in response to various occurrence in these universe or even to your daily life. Take an example on a plane crash. Logical approach would yield the answer that lead to "human error" or "engine failure" and then find ideas to fix it. Religious approach will yield the answer that lead to "God's will (fate)". Or... perhaps you are in between them which it called moderate.

Can you compare or even combine the two of the flowchart above? If you can, then I will say you are being in best efforts. Why? Because... even sophisticated computer was run based on the combination of two signals namely positive and negative. What distinguishes human from robot is…

What a PhD mean for you

What is Ph.D.? Yes I know it is a prestigious academic degree. Only that? Hmm... I think NO. It's hard to describe it in words. You better focus on the illustration below:

And... the things that made me fall silent is what was said by Matt, below:
If you zoom in on the boundary of human knowledge in the direction of genetics, there's something just outside humanity's reach. My wife and I chose to start funding these graduate students after we learned that our son has a rare, fatal genetic disorder. It may be too late for my son, but it's not too late for other children. Even one child suffering is one child too many. The only way to end this kind of suffering is science. And, the best way to do science is through graduate students.

What a beautiful thoughts that touched my heart.
Note: This work was originally from The Illustrated Guide to a Ph.D. by Matt Might.

Mr. Money is not guilty

This is a special guest post. The grievances and notice from Mr. Money that share it in sorrow to readers. Please read carefully below :

My name is Mr. Money (sometime was called : Dough). My face is just plain, my physical is also weak, but I am able to overhaul the world order.

I'm able to change the behavior even human nature because humans idolize me. Many people change their personality, betray friends, sell their bodies, even abandon their faith, for my sake. That's not my command, note that!

I really do not understand the difference of pious and depraved people, but humans using me as a benchmark, determine rich or poor, honorable or lowly. Blame to human, not me.

I am not devil, but often people do abominations because of me. So I ask for justice who is the real devil.

I'm not the third person to make them divorced or make children and parents quarrel. I beg to the judge to re-examine this case.

It is very clear that I am not God. You must obey your religion forbid…
